Baking your Muffins!

Even the best muffin batters can be ruined if you do not bake them correctly! Baking the muffins to perfection is actually very, very easy! The challenge lies in knowing your own oven. Each oven differs, and as such, our instructions are guidelines only! The info below is based on baking medium(60-70gr) muffins and in a muffin liner/cup. Remember: over baking muffins will dry them out and it shortens the shelf life!! Larger muffins will bake longer!

Typically, a fan driven convection oven is about 20% faster/hotter than a standard element oven.

Baking times for convection ovens: approximately 15-20 minutes at 180'C
Baking times for standard element oven: approximately 20 - 25 minutes at 180'C

There are two easy ways of getting the perfectly baked muffin:

(1) Preheat your oven to 200'C. Baked the muffin for 8 minutes, then turn the heat down to 180'C and bake until done(approximately 5-7 minutes). This method will give you a muffin with a much higher muffin top. Be careful not to bake it to long at 200'C or it might cause the muffin top to collapse!

(2) Preheat your oven to 180'C and bake at this temperature until done.

To test if your muffins are done, simply stick a toothpick into the centre of the baked muffin and, if the toothpick comes out clean, the muffins are done! If you still see some batter on the toothpick, give it another minute or two and test it again.

Allow the muffins to cool on a rack before consuming. The longer rest period gives the flavours time to infuse into the muffin, giving you a much tastier product! Typically 30 minutes of cooling will suffice.

We hope you enjoy!
